HARRISVILLE MAN SHOOTS AT WOMAN - Grabs AR-15 When Police Arrive

A Ritchie County man was arrested after he allegedly shot at a woman Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint, David Smith of Harrisville and the victim had been living apart for a year. Smith asked her to stop by his camper.

According to police, the victim and Smith eventually got into an argument, and she was forced on the ground by him. Smith took her cellphone and threw it away.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim tried to find her cellphone in the camper, and Smith threatened to shoot and kill her. When she left the camper to try and find her cellphone, Smith shot at her once. According to the criminal complaint, the victim went back to her home and called 911.

According to the criminal complaint, when troopers and Sheriff Terry Snodgrass got to Smith's camper, he was standing inside a detached garage. When one of the officers approached Smith, he grabbed an AR-15 rifle and went into the camper.

According to police, they were yelling at Smith to exit the camper. Smith exited the camper and was taken into custody.

Smith was charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
