CAIN SENTENCED 1-5 YEARS IN WALKER RD. SHOOTING

Thomas Cain appeared before Calhoun Circuit Court Monday, Judge Anita Harold Ashley presiding.

The court heard a motion for a new trial and sentencing.

Prosecutor Shannon Johnson said after hearing arguments as to the defendant’s motion for a new trial, the court denied the motion and proceeded to sentencing.

The court sentenced Cain to one to five years in the state penitentiary upon his conviction by jury of unlawful wounding, a felony. He was given credit for time served.

Cain had been charged with the shooting of a man on Walker Road.

April Ball appeared on her motion to reduce bond.

The court reduced her bond to twenty five thousand dollars, cash, surety, or property with a condition of home confinement.

Rick Boatright appeared for a pre-trial hearing. His attorney was unavailable, so the hearing was reset for July 29, 2019.

Dennis Bailey appeared for an initial appearance and arraignment. His case was set for a pre-trial hearing on November 4, 2019 and Jury Selection and Jury Trial on December 10, 2019.

Darren Parsons was not transported by the Department of Corrections for his arraignment hearing. The court continued his hearing to July 29, 2019.

The Court also heard 25 juvenile cases.
