MAN PULLS GUN ON TROOPER - A man is in jail after troopers say he tried to pull a gun on a trooper Saturday afternoon.

Jeremy Bartram, 27, from Lavalette, was stopped along Hal Greer Blvd in Huntington.

Officials say when the trooper came up to Bartram's car, Bartram allegedly went to pull a gun out from under the driver's seat, but the trooper stopped him, and was able to get Bartram in to handcuffs without incident.

Troopers say they did find drugs in Bartram's car.

Bartram is facing several charges including possession of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver, and driving on a suspended license.

He was taken to Western Regional Jail.

MAN KILLED IN STAND-OFF - Bridgeport Police Chief, John Walker, says law enforcement responded to a domestic dispute on Cherry St. Saturday.

Chief Walker said a woman had a domestic violence petition against her husband and he forced his way into the house. Police say he allegedly assaulted her and had a 9 millimeter, loaded handgun.

The woman was able to leave the house and she later heard a gun shot around 4:00 p.m. The standoff started at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Responding officers tried to communicate with him while outside of the house, but they weren't successful.

Chief Walker says when police did get inside of the house they found the suspect on the floor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say he is deceased.

During the standoff, police had the surrounding areas blocked off and didn't allow people to drive through. Police also say some neighboring houses were evacuated.

The Bridgeport Police Department, Bridgeport SRT, Harrison County Sheriff's Department and Bridgeport Fire and Rescue were on scene. It's reported that the victim is safe and the standoff is over.
