Opal G. Nichols Selmon, 90, of Five Forks

Opal G. Nichols Selmon, 90, of Five Forks, WV, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of June 29, 2019 at Minnie Hamilton Healthcare in Grantsville WV.

She was born June 9, 1929, in the Pine Creek Community of Calhoun County WV, a daughter of the late George C. and Gatha Digman Nichols.

Opal was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved the babies. She was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators of Grantsville and a member of the Five Forks Community Church for nearly 50 years. God and family were her greatest passion.

On February 17, 1949, Opal was united in marriage to Albert R. Selmon, her husband of 64 years, who preceded her in death on January 6, 2014.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Basil Nichols, Paul Nichols, Brown Nichols; and 3 sisters, Effie Wilson, Golda Haynes and Hazel Morris.

Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis M. Smith (Mike) and Sandra S. Osborne (Carl), both of Grantsville; two grandsons, Christopher J. Osborne and Matthew C. Osborne both of Grantsville; two granddaughters, Dena M. Roberts (Randy) of Parkersburg and Tiffany B. Allison (Kevin) of Huntington; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Haden, Kinlea, Jayda, Caden, Corbin and Carly; and two great great-grandchildren, Dylan II and Elle. She is also survived by two brothers, Georgie Nichols and Burl Nichols, both of Grantsville; and one sister Brenice Little of Parkersburg.

A funeral service will be conducted by Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. at the Five Forks Community Church at Five Forks WV, Sunday, July 7, 2019 with Reverend Alfred Hickman officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Broomstick Cemetery.
