ALCOHOL BEVERAGE CONTROL WANTS BOND MONEY - Strip Clubs Formerly Owned By Masiarczyk

(02/13/2003)
The State Alcoholic Beverage Control Administration wants to collect $79,000 from a bonding company that covered more than a dozen West Virginia strip clubs that lost their liquor licenses.

The default was by the owners of a chain of strip clubs, Frank and Linda Masiarczyk of Grantsville, who were sentenced to prison for failure to pay about one million dollars for tax fraud.

ABCA Commissioner Thomas Keeley said this week his agency is attempting to collect from the bonding company, Old Republic Surety Company.

The bonds covered fourteen establishments, thirteen private clubs and one tavern, he said. The clubs were listed as Big Bertha's and Lady Godivas.

The ABCA revoked the establishments licenses after the Masiarczyks were convicted of federal tax charges.

Frank Masiarczyk was sentenced to six years and eight months and his wife, Linda, was sentenced to a four years and two months, which they are currently serving.

They were also ordered to pay $250,000 in restitution.
