Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Harper, 62, of Spencer

Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Harper, 62, of Spencer, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a short illness.

She was born September 6, 1956, at Charleston, the daughter of the late Cecil Fields and the late Christine Lupardus Fields.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell Harper, Sr.; infant son, Jeffrey William Harper; brothers, Louis "Bub" Fields and Glennus Fields; sister, Virginia Pauline Osterhoudt.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Harper; children, Darrell Harper, Jr. of Sissonville, Richard (Angela Parsons) Harper of Spencer, Catherine Harper also of Spencer and Michael (Rebecca Alderman) Harper of Parkersburg; brothers, Winfred Fields of Spencer and Donald Fields of Blanch, N.C.; sister, Wanda Moore of Salyersville, Ky.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; aunt, Irene Ferrell of Spencer; close friend, Betty Douglas of Spencer; ex daughter-in-law, Ramona Harper Hodges.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Ambler Ridge, Walton, with the Rev. Rick Perrine officiating.

Friends may visit at the cemetery one hour before the service. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
