Darrell L. Starcher, 88 of Palestine

Darrell L. Starcher, 88 of Palestine, WV, passed away May 27, 2019. He was the son of the late Harlan and Lona Mae Lattie Starcher.

He retired from Operators Union Local #132 of Huntington, WV, after 25 years of service, worked for the United States Post Office as a rural carrier for several years and was owner of Starcher Service Center of Palestine. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1950-1954. He enjoyed farming, gardening and church and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Butch Starcher; his children Gary (Becca) Starcher, Connie (Steve) Ruble and Kurt (Kathy) Starcher; grandchildren Bryan Starcher, Alisha Cross, Brandi Cottrell, Cortney Cumbridge, Jacob Starcher, Kylee Starcher, Jessica Groves, Joshua Taylor, Heather McIntyre, Sonya Reutelshofer; great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Russell, William, Shawn, Ashley, Hailey, Korbin, Aleah, Nathan, Gavin, Bailee, Isabella, Isiah and Emma and siblings Janet (Richard) Whited and Ruby Powell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Kyle Starcher, his brothers Harlan Jr. and Leo and sisters Rita, Lena, Emogene and Ruth.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth and at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be Friday, May 31, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, Palestine WV, with Ed Jackson officiating. Burial will be at the Palestine Cemetery, Thorn Addition.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethesda Baptist Church.
