Charleston Police said they have arrested a suspect in Clay County that stole an ambulance from a hospital Monday evening.

Police say Kenneth Wayne Nottingham, 30, of Pigeon, near Clay-Roane line, was arrested in Lizemores in Clay County.

Nottingham was heading north on Interstate 79 after he stole an ambulance from CAMC General ER about 7:15 Monday evening.

Charleston Police Lt. Autumn Davis says Nottingham was wearing a hospital gown, so they believe he was a patient.

West Virginia State Police, Clay County Sheriff's Department, and DNR assisted CPD.

Nottingham is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle by state police.
