SHOT MAN WITH BB GUN Fairmont Police arrested a man they said shot his brother-in-law in the stomach with a BB gun.

On May 19, officers responded to a home on 4th Street for a shooting incident related to a domestic altercation. Officers said the incident involved Patrick Heflin, 26, of Fairmont, Edith Bush and Devin Williams.

Through on-scene investigation, statements from all witnesses involved, physical observations and evidence collected, police said during the altercation, Williams struck Heflin in the face multiple times, causing his nose to bleed and requiring medical attention from EMS. Heflin then used a Crosman MK45 CO2 BB Pistol and fired at Williams, hitting him five times, officers said.

Officers said Bush, who is Heflin's mother-in-law, grabbed Heflin's neck and began to choke him, according to the criminal complaint. Officers also stated that Bush struck Heflin in the face.

Heflin has been charged with malicious or unlawful lawsuit and battery, according to court documents. He is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail.
