Faye Ray, 98, of Walton

Faye Ray, 98, of Walton, Roane County, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

She was born February 9, 1921, at Walton, the daughter of the late Howard and Lona Larch Patrick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis G. Ray; child, Jerry Edward Ray; two grandchildren; one sister and four brothers.

Mrs. Ray owned and operated a general country store on Ambler Ridge near Walton. She was a homemaker and raised five children. Pastimes she enjoyed included, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, reading and puzzles.

Survivors include four children, Larry R. Ray of Clinton, Ohio, Virgil H. Ray of Walton, Judy Ray Shipley of Rehoboth Beach, Del. and Diana Sue Wilson of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 11 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Jonathan Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Lyle Paxton Cemetery, Walton. The visitation will be 90 minutes before the service.
