A man took his own life Thursday morning in Ritchie County following a several hour long standoff with state police.

Troopers were originally called to a residence on Buck Run Road Wednesday evening for a domestic disturbance. ItÂ’s alleged Stephen Wilson, 45, of Pennsboro, had fired several shots in the home injuring two people.

Troopers said the two victims were able to escape the house when they arrived on the scene but Wilson refused to come out. A standoff ensued that stretched for about nine hours. There were ongoing negotiations but Wilson refused to come out of the house.

Troopers ultimately decided to use tear gas to enter the home. Wilson apparently shot and killed himself as troopers were going into the home.
