Roger William Conner, 90, of Spencer

Roger William Conner, 90, of Spencer, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.

He was born August 28, 1928, at Spencer, the son of the late Roscoe C. and Gertrude "Gertie" Price Conner.

Roger was united in marriage on the 16th day of August 1958, to Dorothy Ann Mace, who preceded him in death on the 21st day of October 2018.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Tywanna Conner of Prosperity, S.C. and Stephen Conner of Pomaria, S.C.; grandchildren, Spencer Alan Conner, Cody Travis (Kelsey) Conner and Jonathan Cecil Conner; great grandchild, Avery Ann Conner; twin brother, Roland Conner of Cottageville; sister, Rose Marie "Toots" Somervill of Clover; brother, Jim Conner of Rock Hill, S.C.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Merrill Webb, Kenneth Conner, Randall Conner and Marjorie Clarkson.

Roger was a retired employee of Kaiser Aluminum and member of the USWA, Local 5668, Ravenswood. He was a graduate of Spencer High School, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Also, he was a longtime member of the Roane County Gun Club and a life member of the NRA. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Russell B. Stump officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. The visitation will be two hours prior the service.
