| This yearÂ’s Calhoun Middle-High School, Track Team will be getting their very own shot put-discus throwing area and long jump at the school. Approval has been provided to the team for a go ahead in order to get this project completed. Plans are underway in hopes to complete it quickly so the kids will be able to take advantage of its use this season.
The Calhoun Track team has 18 teammates this season who work hard in preparing for each meet under the assistance of head coach, Melinda Fitzwater and Assistance Coaches Jeff Hunt and Brenda Bush.
Throughout this season, teammates have come home with 1st place in the 400 meter run, 1600 meter run, 4X800 Meter Relay, Shot Put and Discus as well as several 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in these and other events.
Having these much needed throwing and running areas set up for the team will prove to be very helpful in preparing the team for their field event.
The team and coaches are reaching out to the community for monetary assistance in purchasing the necessary equipment in order to complete this project. It's all about giving back to our kids to allow them to enjoy their sport and be successful in reaching their goals for their team.
