STARCHER FACING GILMER METH, MULTIPLE CHARGES

(04/12/2019)
4-12-2019 - Gilmer authorities have charged Jason Wayne Starcher, 35, Friday with entry of a building other than a dwelling and prohibited acts. He is in Central Regional Jail.

4/5/2019 - A Gilmer County man has been arrested after officers said they found methamphetamine in his possession.

On Saturday, April 6, officers with the Mountain Lakes Drug & Violent Crime Unit were patrolling the area of North Lewis Street in Glenville. While patrolling the area, officers said they observed a man, believed to be Jason Starcher, 35, of Glenville, exiting the area of a known drug house. Starcher had a felony warrant for his arrest for illegally entering a building in February 2019, according to court documents.

Officers witnessed the man walking towards Walnut Street with his hood up trying to conceal his identity. Officers then positively identified the man as Starcher and detained him to confirm the felony arrest warrant. After confirming the felony arrest warrant for Starcher, he was placed under arrest.

During a pat down of Starcher, officers said they located a syringe. Officers also located two used syringes, a set of digital black scales and methamphetamine in Starcher's possession. Starcher then pointed to a small camouflage camera case in his sweatshirt pocket, which officers said contained four plastic containers.

Officers said one container had four individually wrapped bags of methamphetamine, a second contained a small amount of methamphetamine, a third contained methamphetamine residue and a piece of cotton and the fourth contained a piece of cotton.

Starcher has been charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and entry of a building other than a dwelling, according to court documents.
