Allen Gene Simmons, 65 of Cottageville

Allen Gene Simmons, 65 of Cottageville, passed peacefully at his home on April 6, 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Jean; daughter Candice Jean; son Travis Gene and wife Tiffany; his father-in-law whom he thought the world of, Lewis Angus; grandchildren Caylee Jean Southall, Dakota Allen-Lee Southall, Patience Jean Simmons, Journey Marie Simmons, Bradley Michael Simmons, Alex Casto, Marshall Casto, Audry Casto; brothers Dave (Phyllis) Simmons of Ravenswood, Danny Simmons of Tennessee, John (Vanessa) Simmons of Georgia, Donald (Barbara) Simmons of Ritchie County; sisters Della Starcher of Calhoun County, and Alma Grafis of Calhoun County. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Eugene and Flossie Cottrell Simmons; a brother Billy Simmons; and sisters Diane James and Delores Simons.

Allen honorably served in the US Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked on drilling rigs and for Atlas Towing and in Construction. Allen never knew a stranger and would do anything for his family or for a friend. He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service with Military Rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Drift Run Cemetery, Sandyville with Pastor Grant Garber officiating.
