Mary L. Radcliff Emerson, 89, Cox's Mills

Mary L. Radcliff Emerson, age 89, of Alice Road, Cox's Mills WV, departed this earthly life on the evening of Friday, April 5, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born April 20, 1929 in Conings WV, daughter of the late C. O. and Della Burkhammer Radcliff.

Mary is a graduate of Troy High School Class of 1948, and a graduate of Black Hawk College in Kewanee IL, where she received a degree in nursing. She worked as a certified nurse with 25 plus years experience for Americare/Sunbridge of Glenville in what is now the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center.

Mary is a Methodist by faith and long-time member of the Mt. Earnest United Methodist Church in Conings WV. Mary loved her church, listening to gospel music, and especially spending time with her family.

On December 27, 1949 Mary was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, James Elton Emerson, who preceded her in death on January 5, 1984.

Surviving are 4 children Marilou Lybarger and husband Jack of Cox’s Mills, Jack Emerson and wife Stacie of Overland Park KS, Joe Emerson and wife Kim of Manteno IL, and Jeanie Swanson and husband Dan of Troy WV; 6 grandsons, John Lybarger and wife Milisia, Jeff Lybarger and wife Christie, Jason Emerson, Jacob Emerson and wife Erin, Justin Emerson, and Michael Swanson; and 7 great-grandchildren, Emily Lybarger, Ella Lybarger, Andrew Lybarger, James Emerson, Joseph Emerson, Jace Emerson, and Jordan Emerson.

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

Along with her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by 8 siblings, James Russell Radcliff, Olie Gloe “Joe” Radcliff, Thomas Harold Radcliff, Stacy Burl Radcliff, Georgia Radcliff Carr, Madeline Radcliff Bonnett, Olen Harlan Radcliff, and Jency Marie Radcliff.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Mt. Earnest United Methodist Church in Conings WV, at 12:00-noon on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 with Henry Rastle officiating. Burial will follow in the Carder Cemetery in Vadis WV. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00-noon Tuesday at the Church in Conings.
