MINGO SHOOTING - The Mingo County Sheriff's Department arrested a man Thursday who is accused of firing multiple shots at two women. Kelly Lawson, 41, of North Matewan is facing multiple charges after he is accused of shooting at two women with a 12-gauge shotgun and .22 caliber handgun, according to a criminal complaint filed in Mingo County Magistrate Court. Both victims told deputies Lawson was threatening to kill them and fired several shots in their direction. The complaint said Lawson had been drinking throughout the day and had also taken three pills containing codeine. Lawson is charged wanton endangerment, brandishing, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, domestic assault.
