Fred Church, Jr., 80, of Minnora

(03/31/2019)
Fred Church, Jr., 80, of Minnora, West Virginia, surrounded by his family, returned to his heavenly home on March 30, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Fred was born in Calhoun County to the late Fred and Tressie Crawford Church. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1957 and was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the IUOE Local 132 with over 50 years of service and loved telling stories about the many miles of pipe he had laid. Truly an outdoorsman, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on the lake with his wife, Yvonne.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of almost 33 years, Yvonne Shields Church; children, Jeff (Sandee) Church of Orma, West Virginia and Judy (Doug) Metz of Chloe, West Virginia; step-children, Sherry (Robert) Brown of Millstone, West Virginia, Keith McKown of Millstone, Jeff (Joanna) McKown of Leroy, West Virginia and Jeannie (Chris) Winchester of Washington, DC; brother, Victor (Linda) Church of Newton Falls, Ohio; sisters, Christine Starcher of Spencer, West Virginia and Karen (Bobby) Epler of Reedy, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise Norman Church; an infant brother, Bernard Church; and a sister, Ernestine Starcher.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Arnoldsburg Community Building, Arnoldsburg, West Virginia with Revs. Rick Matheney and Roger Carter officiating. Visiting hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, also at the Arnoldsburg Community Building. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery on Beech Road.

Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home of Spencer, is honored to assist the family of Mr. Church.
