Helen Elmore Paxton, 91, of Parkersburg

Helen Elmore Paxton, 91, of Parkersburg, was taken home to be with her LORD while at her home in Parkersburg, surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

She was born August 16, 1927, at Walton, Roane County, the daughter of the late Forrest and Ruby Hunt Elmore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Delbert O. Paxton; sister, Muriel Mundy; brothers, Randall Elmore and Bill Elmore.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard E. and Helen Paxton of Parkersburg and William Ray and Cynthia Paxton also of Parkersburg; daughter and son-in-law, Ruby E. and Bill Dowler of Washington; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Thelma and Dewey Harper, and Darlene Elmore; brothers, Forrest and Mary Elmore, Jr., Larry and Shirley Elmore, and Steve Elmore.

Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning, quilting, and camping while fishing and hunting with her family.

The family extends their thanks to the nurses, aides and social worker of Amedysis Hospice and also the employees of TLC In Home Health Care for the excellent care given their mother.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial will be in the Lyle Paxton Cemetery, Paxton Ridge, Walton. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
