ARMY RESERVE UNIT CALLED FROM GRAFTON - Military Police Unit Has 180 Members, Spencer Guard Leaves Monday

About 180 Army reservists from the 363rd Military Police Company based in Grafton have been mobilized. They will be joining 500 members of the 1092nd Engineers who will be leaving for active duty on Monday, including the Spencer Detachment.

Several hundred other reservists from West Virginia have been called to active duty in preparation for war with Iraq.

More than 110 soldiers reported today. Another 30 soldiers from the unit's Jane Lew detachment and about 40 from the Pittsburgh detachment are expected to arrive this weekend.

The 363rd provides security, law and order operations, crime prevention and security of critical national resources.

The unit served in Europe during World War Two and in Saudi Arabia during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

The 363rd recently completed a ten-month tour of duty during Operation Noble Eagle.
