CHARLESTON RANKED NEAR 'UNHAPPIEST" CITY IN USA

If you live in the capital city and have been feeling a little down in the dumps lately, maybe there is a reason.

Financial website WalletHub said Charleston is ranked near the bottom - 180 out of 182 cities - in the 2019 Happiest Cities in America study.

Charleston had a total score of 39.68 in the study, with an emotional and physical well-being rank of 180, income and employment rank, 66, and community and environment rank, 93.

The survey looked at 31 key indicators of happiness such as depression rate, income growth rate and average leisure time spent per day.

The only cities that trailed Charleston were Toledo, Ohio, ranked at 181, and Detroit, Mich., ranked last at 182.

Scoring at the top three happiest cities respectively were Plano Texas, Irvine, Calif., and Madison, Wisc.
