HISTORIC WALKER ROAD HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE EARLY SUNDAY

(03/11/2019)

A historic house once occupied by veterinarian Dr. Charles R. (1884-1967) and Elizabeth Conley Lamb (1888-1975) on Walker Road was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

Ten of Dr. Lamb's children were raised in the dwelling.

The unoccupied house was last occupied by Bill and the late Kathy Wood, she being the 911/OES Director in Calhoun for several years.

A passerby reported the fire at 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

The large two story house was fully engulfed when the Upper West Fork and Arnoldsburg VFDs arrived.

Officials contacted the WV Fire Marshal's office, indicating it was a suspicious fire.
