WOMAN SHOOTS HUSBAND MISTAKEN INTRUDER - The Cabell County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting in which a man was shot and killed after his wife mistook him for an intruder.

David Elder of Huntington died Thursday, according to Sheriff Chuck Zerkle. The shooting happened about 4 a.m. Thursday at a home on Wentz Hollow Road in Huntington. Zerkle said Elder's wife, Kathy, thought someone was breaking into the house and shot who she thought was an intruder.

No charges have been filed at this time. The sheriff's department is still on the scene investigating.

His body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

MORGANTOWN SHOOTING - Morgantown police said the man shot and killed in Morgantown after he fired at US marshals was the fugitive wanted in the shooting and wounding of a Bluefield, Va., police officer.

Donquale Gray, 25, of Bluefield, W.Va., was shot and killed Wednesday in the College Avenue and Falling Run Road area near West Virginia University, police said.

Police said Gray shot a Bluefield, Va., police officer during a Feb. 16 traffic stop. Officers returned fire and the car was found abandoned hours later in West Virginia. The wounded officer is recovering.

A $25,000 reward was being offered for information leading to Gray’s arrest.
