Holly Dale Eagle, Jr. "June", 95, of Mt. Zion

Paratrooper Holly Dale Eagle, Jr. "June", 95, of Mt. Zion, WV made his final jump February 27, 2019 into the arms of Jesus, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV. Holly was born November 2, 1923, a son of the late Holly Dale and Minnie Richards Eagle.

He was a long-time resident of Mt. Zion, WV. He was always involved with his favorite pastime of farming. He was retired from Cabot Gas Company.

Holly jumped with the 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day, landing at Sainte Mère Eglise, France. After being wounded, he was placed in the 35th Infantry Division. He fought with them until being wounded the second time at the Rhine River.

Holly was a Baptist by faith and always tried to be a positive influence on his family which he loved very much. He, in turn, was loved dearly by his family whom he looked forward to spending time with.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, of 69 ½ years, Genieve Nichols Eagle; son, David Eagle; daughter, Jeanie Bland (Jim); grandchildren Greg Eagle (Shannon), Steve Shaffer (Brandy), Kristi Emerson (Russ); step-granddaughter Ashley Wanosky (Alan); great-grandchildren Ace Eagle, Taylor Jenkins, Caroline and Kate Emerson; step-great-grandchildren Gillian and Juliet Wanosky.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special ex-daughter-in-law, Anita Eagle West.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Larry Eagle and Eleanor Buck.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leary Vanhorn and Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
