DEPARTMENTS RESPOND TO RAPIDLY SPREADING BRUSH FIRE AT LETHERBARK

Fire departments responded to a rapidly spreading brush fire along US 33-119 at Letherbark at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Firemen were on scene for about one and one-half hours.

The fire started in the ditch-line and rapidly went up a steep hillside fanned by the wind, with a mobile home nearby.

The Arnoldsburg, Upper West Fork and Spencer-Roane VFDs responded to the incident, which burned over a few acres.

A WV Forrester also responded.

Spring fire season starts Friday.
