L. Ernest (Sonny) Haught, Jr., 83, of Smithville

L. Ernest (Sonny) Haught, Jr., 83, of Smithville, WV passed away on February 23, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Sonny was born December 6, 1935, in Smithville, WV, to L.E. Haught, Sr., and Ethel B. Parks Haught.

Sonny was a 1964 charter member and lifelong volunteer of the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department and a 1975 charter and Board of Directors member, volunteering many hours primarily as a driver, for the Ritchie County Emergency Squad. Sonny spent a lifetime working in the oil and gas industry, starting at a young age with his father for the family owned Haught Drilling Company.

Of his many accomplishments, nothing meant more than the love Sonny had for his family. Sonny married the love of his life, Edith Dye, in Smithville, WV, on December 28, 1957, celebrating their 61st anniversary in 2017.

In addition to his wife, Sonny is survived by his son, Dana Haught and companion Laura Frymier of Smithville, WV, daughter Annetta (Haught) and Ronnie Siers of Glendale, WV, son Jimmy and Onie Haught of Smithville, WV, daughter Terry (Haught) Keith and companion Larry Blake of Bethesda, OH, and daughter Sherry (Haught) and Randy Luzader of Sand Fork, WV.

He is also survived by grandchildren James Haught and fiancé' Katie Jacot of Garden Grove, CA, Travis and Tanya Haught of Mission Viejo, CA, Christopher and Emily Siers of Richmond, KY, Allen and Lauren Siers of Nutter Fort, WV, Noah and Ashley Siers of Elkview, WV, Shawn and Danielle Haught and Timmy Haught of Smithville, WV, Justin Hendershot and fiance' Danielle Lawson of Cambridge, OH, Sonny Keith of Columbus, OH, Jenna (Blake) and Cody Nelson of Salesville, OH, Jesse Keith of Flushing OH, and Meghan (Luzader) and Richard Dorsey of Glenville, WV.

Additionally, Sonny is survived by his great-grandchildren Ellie, Archer and Ava Haught, John and Max Jacot, Pyper, Briella and Rae Siers, Rylan Haught and Jaxon and Casen Nelson.

Sonny is also survived by his sister Lois (Haught) and Paul Simmons and daughter Kelli Simonton-Davila, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Sonny's family would like to extend a huge Thank You to Angie, Morgan, Diane, Lauren and John of Housecalls Hospice, the nursing staff of the Advanced Care Unit and 5 North at CCMC, Mike Hardbarger, and the Smithville Firemen.

Fireman's Final call and public graveside services following cremation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Haught Cemetery, Beatrice, WV with assistance of the Smithville Fire Dept. and Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV.
