Calhoun's Frontier Phone/internet service was bashed by Sunday's windstorm that swept through the area with winds gusting 40 miles an hour.

The system is out across the county, and likely other counties.

Frontier does not release the number of outages.

The decaying, antiquated landline system could be down for the count, at least for some time.

911 cannot be reached in Calhoun, but cell phones might be able to reach Roane 911 and they can contact the local center.

Before phone lines went dead Sunday, 911 had nine reports of pole, trees or lines down.

Electric service was restored after a few hours to most customers.
