A West Virginia Volunteer Fire Department says their phone lines are down after an unknown person cut the line.

The Newton Volunteer Fire Department says calls to their station cannot The department says they have not been given time when the line will be fixed but are asking the public to call 304-565-4866 to directly reach someone inside the fire department.

They say someone has been manning the phones at all times and this has not delayed their response to any emergencies.

They say if you are using a cellphone, your call to the local 911 dispatch center should still work.

Firefighters say they don't know who cut the lines and are still evaluating the situation.
