Mr. Howard J. Ooten, 80, of Arnoldsburg, WV, formerly of Yolyn, WV., went home to be with his Lord and
Savior February 10, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was born November 9, 1938 at Ragland, WV, the son of the late Rosa Mae Burke
Ooten - Adkins and Garland Ooten.
Howard is preceded in death by his brother Arvel Ooten and sister Hannah Wooten.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Garnet Ooten, daughters; Rose Ann (Dar) Getts of
Michigan, Kathy Baker of Michigan, Christy (David) Stevens of Clarksburg WV, Lori (Bill) Brown of
Danville WV, Mary (Ronald) Blankenship of Cyclone WV, and Julie Ooten (David) Fortune of Logan WV; grandchildren, Susan Nelson, Anthony Smith, Drake Hughes, Joshua Brown, Jesse Blankenship, and Gracie Blankenship, brothers; Tom (Donna) Ooten, Wendell (Barb) Ooten, Johnny (Jackie) Adkins,
and sister Alene (Eddie) James.
Howard was a retired coal miner, UMWA member local 5958, and Mason
of Masonic Lodge # 99 in Logan WV. He attended Walnut Grove Church. Howard was a loving
husband and father. He was a friend to all he met and will be missed dearly.
The family would like to
thank hospice for your amazing care, kindness and support. A private family service will be held at a
