Icy Gwendolyn "Gwennie" Martin, 84 years old, died peacefully at her home Feb. 7, 2019, following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Vivian and Marcellus Boyce. She graduated from Wirt County High School in 1953 as Valedictorian. Gwennie was a devoted wife and mother. She was always involved with her children's school and community activities. She loved her dogs and raising sheep. Crocheting was something she enjoyed, especially the baby afghans she made for family and friends. Her later years were spent enjoying her great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Nanny by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis A. Martin; her children, Eileen (Ron) Lantz, Teresa Martin, Vickie (Steve) Herron and Louis Martin, Jr.; grandchildren Louis (Amanda) Martin III, Gara (Jason) Graves, Tara (Eric) Dilly, Sara (Dustin) Luzier and Denny Martin; great-grandchildren Louis Martin IV, Leia Faith Martin, Shoshanna Martin, Estelle Martin, James Debrick, Colin Debrick, Zachary and Rowan Dilly, Nolan, Nevin, Noah and Emersyn Luzier and Preston Graves. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her brothers, Marcellus Boyce, Jr., Edwin Boyce, Charles Boyce, Lewis Boyce; sisters, Eileen Boyce and Donna Murray and granddaughter Savannah Martin. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, from 5-8 pm, and Monday 1 hour prior to the service. Services will be Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at 1 pm at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, WV with the Rev. Danny McVey officiating. Interment will be on the family farm on Tuckers Creek.
