Col. Laurence Harvey "Larry" Boggs, 56, of Spencer

(02/01/2019)
Col. Laurence Harvey "Larry" Boggs, 56, of Spencer, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at home.

He was born in Parkersburg, the son of Harvey Gay and Helen D. Stewart Boggs. Larry was an auctioneer/appraiser and owner of Boggs Auction Company for 37 years.

Larry loved meeting the people he served, always bragged he had the best "crew" in the business and had many favorite "regulars" who faithfully attended his auctions. He enjoyed farming, raising Angus cattle, hunting, fishing, propagating American chestnut trees and spending time admiring the wonders of nature on his beloved "Beckley Farm." He believed there was no better place on earth.

Survivors include his parents; sons, Jacob and Daniel Boggs of Spencer; daughter, Laura Boggs of Morgantown; granddaughter, Aleera Grace Tyson; sister, Brigitte Boggs Lowe of Ripley. He was immensely proud of all three of his children and was both in awe and in love with his beautiful granddaughter.

He leaves behind very special friends, Janet Parsons, John and Mary Miller, Ann Boggs and Jeremy Eastman, all whom he depended on greatly on during the past few years. Larry was saved later in life and read his Bible regularly. It is a wonderful comfort to know we will see him again someday in Heaven.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Toby Wagoner officiating. Those wishing to offer condolences, may visit from noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, or online at www.taylorfuneralhomeinc.com
