WEST VIRGINIA: Low Income Energy Assistance Program For Heating

(02/03/2019)
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) announced on Wednesday that applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program will begin to be accepted on Monday.

Applications will be accepted from Monday, February 4 until Friday, February 22, or until funds are exhausted. LIEAP is federally funded and assists eligible state residence in paying home heating bills.

According to the DHHR, eligibility for LIEAP benefits is determined based on income, household size and whether the household is responsible for paying its heating bill.

The DHHR said that income must be at or below 150% of the federal poverty guideline for the household size. Additionally, in situations where a heating emergency exists, applicants must be seen by a DHHR worker. To qualify, households must meet all program guidelines, the DHHR said.
