LIONS HAVE NEW MILESTONE - Two Women Become Members

(02/05/2003)
The Grantsville Lions Club experienced a milestone on January 13th, the induction of its first female members.

Shirley Gregory and Loretta Freshour became members of the club, sponsored by Curtis Gregory.

The club collected 47 pair of glasses which have been donated to the national organization that provides free glasses to the underprivileged.

Plans were made to begin a concerted effort to collect additional glasses by setting up collection boxes at various locations in the community.

Three requests for eye exams and glasses were approved and the club voted to give $100 to the Lion's Foundation.

Permission was granted to Boy Scout Troop #39 to hold meetings and activities as needed at the Lions Club Building free of charge.

The club also decided to construct new Christmas lights for next year.

Mike Smith was recognized for his work in erecting Christmas lights for many years.
