FATAL STABBING - A woman is facing multiple charges after a deadly stabbing Thursday afternoon in St. Albans.

The murder was described as brutal.

Courtney Wallace, 21, is accused of stabbing and killing Cheri Simpson at a home in the 2700 block of Furlong Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Simpson was the mother of Wallace's girlfriend.

The complaint said when police arrived at the scene about 5 p.m. Thursday, they found Wallace standing in a hallway naked from the chest down and covered in blood.

Wallace attempted to get away from police by kicking officers, but was taken into custody, the complaint said.

After gaining control of the suspect, police found Simpson's body lying in the floor.

Simpson's daughter told police Wallace had left the bedroom with a kitchen knife and stabbed Simpson multiple times, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, Wallace then performed sexual acts on Simpson's unresponsive body. The complaint said Wallace also is accused of urinating beside Simpson's body.

Simpson was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital, where she died as a result of stab wounds to the front and rear of her torso.

Wallace is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse. She is being held in the South Central Regional Jail without bond.
