Fire from a burning brush heap caught grass and leaves on fire about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Upper West Fork VFD brought the fire under control in rather short order. It was located near the Coen Cemetery a few feet from the Clay County line off Route 16. The department's brush fire truck and eight firemen traveled up the steep mountain to fight the blaze.
