Robert Geary Hathaway, 71, of Spencer, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at home. He was born March 15, 1947 at Wallback, the son of the late R.J. and Edith Tanner Hathaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hathaway Miller. Geary was a retired laborer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, who served two tours. Survivors include a son, Michael A. Hathaway; brother, Jack Linkinoggor; sisters, Sue Jett and Eunice King; nieces and nephews; K-9 friend, Roscoe. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the USMC Honor Guard, will be in the J. Herbert Smith, Sr. Family Cemetery, Looneyville.
