CALHOUN PROSECUTOR GIVES 2018 YEAR END REPORT

The Calhoun County Prosecutor has released the year end case numbers for Calhoun County in 2018. According to Prosecutor Johnson; there were 26 felony cases processed through Circuit Court and 389 misdemeanor cases filed in Calhoun County Magistrate Court. Further, the Prosecutor's Office handled 57 abuse and neglect cases, 7 juvenile status offender cases, and 7 juvenile delinquency petitions in Circuit Court. Prosecutor Johnson also spent time in two felony jury trials over the year and held meetings at the middle high school aimed at preventing the need for filing juvenile petitions on six different days. Prosecutor Johnson also noted that she was in Court an average of 14.5 days per month. It should be noted that, on average, there are only 20.5 business days per month. Shannon S.
