SPENCER MAN SERIOUSLY BURNED IN GARAGE FIRE

A Roane County man was burned in a fire that destroyed his automotive garage early Monday morning near Spencer on Colt Ridge. Dave Putnam, 63, is in serious condition at the burn unit of Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Sources said Putnam was using a small amount of kerosene to start a fire in a wood stove but the container he was carrying was apparently leaking. The fire quickly expanded, burning him. Despite his burns, Putnam moved two cars and a riding mower away from the burning garage on Colt Ridge.
