Joshua S. Owens, Jr., 84, of Ravenswood

Joshua S. Owens, Jr., 84, of Ravenswood, WV graduated to heaven on December 26, 2018 at Highland Oaks Center, McConnelsville, Ohio. He suffered from Alzheimer's.

He was born on June 25, 1934 in Grantsville, WV, a son of the late Joshua S. and Minnie F. Bower Owens. After graduating from Calhoun County High School in 1952, he worked in housing construction and pipeline construction. He moved with his wife and daughter to Barberton, Ohio to work for the chemical division of PPG. He worked in the shipping department and later trained to be a mechanic and machinist. He moved to Ravenswood, WV in 1968 to work as a mechanic at Kaiser Aluminum, now called Constellium. Josh retired in 1996 with 28 years of service.

Josh was a Christian and longtime member of Faith Bible Church in Ravenswood, where he served as a deacon. He also loved to sing in the choir.

He is survived by three brothers, George D. Owens, Ronald N. Owens, and Charles M. Owens; three sisters, Greta L. Richards, Carolyn J. Preston, and Joyce A. Roberts.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ava A. Boyce Owens; daughter, Vicki L. Owens; two brothers, Ottmer W. Owens and Woodrow H. Owens; and four sisters, E. Vonda Wiedenhoft, Norma J. Godfrey, Sharlene R. Sadler, and Darlene K. Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Raines officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be in Nobe Cemetery.
