Richard A. Gherke, 83, of Vienna

Richard A. Gherke, 83, of Vienna, passed away at Camden Clark Medical Center, December 25, 2018. Richard "Dick" was born at Grantsville, a son of the late Whitt Gherke and Cretah Pauline Coulter. His wife of fifty seven years, Joyce Hammer Gherke survives.

Mr. Gherke received a fifty year pin for service to Union Local #33 Sheetmetal Workers of WV and Ohio. He was a member of Summit Valley U.M. Church, the American Trap Shooters Association and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his his wife Joyce, Mr. Gherke is survived by one daughter, Rita Chichester of Parkersburg; three sons, Mark (Alicia) of Parkersburg, Patrick (Amy) of Little Hocking and Bill (Tanya) of Parkersburg; one sister, Frances Mason (Arthur) of Sistersville; one brother, Ethan A. "Biff" Wamsley (Sharon) of Jane Lew, West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephen, Joshua, Danielle, Tyler, Allison, Jessica and Bayley; eight great grandchildren, Tori, Addison, Jocelynn, Amelia, Cooper, Gavin, Macy and Mathis. Preceding in death are two sisters and one brother.

A Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Ed Sprout officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen North Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 P.M. today and one hour prior to services on Friday. Please consider in lieu of flowers, donations to the Summit Valley U.M. Church. Please visit www.vaughanfh.com to share a memory or message of condolence.
