William Russell "Wild Bill" Cottrill

William Russell "Wild Bill" Cottrill got on his dozer and headed off to Heaven on December 14, 2018 at 6:15 a.m. at his residence where he wanted to be.

He was born April 23, 1955 at Shock, (Gilmer County) WV, to the late Russell Cottrill and Violet Howes Cottrill.

He graduated from Gilmer County High School. He started working at an early age for farmers. He worked for Harry Boggs Coal Co. for 2 years and went to work for the I.L. Morris family—Waco Oil & Gas in 1979 and stayed until March 2018. He enjoyed reading mostly westerns, fishing, hunting and working with honeybees.

He married Barbara "Bobbi" McCumbers Cottrill on February 18, 1973 who survives at home. Also surviving is a son, Russell (Jennifer) Cottrill, Glenville, WV; daughter, Michele Denise Powell, Glenville WV; granddaughter, Brianna Nicole; grandson, Dakota Lee Cottrill; special niece, Shawny Cottrill of Ohio and very best friend Diesel.

He is survived by brother Buster (Cally) Cottrill of Ohio; sister, Brenda (Troy) Cottrell of Rosedale WV; half-brothers Calvin (Betty) Cottrell of Glenville WV and Wayne Cottrell also of Glenville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by twin granddaughters Kristen Joy and Miranda Lynn Cottrill; sisters Juanita "Kate" Jenkins and Shirley Wise.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Dr., Glenville, WV with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Cottrill Family Cemetery, Sliding Run. Family and friends may call 5-8 p.m., Monday, December 17 at the Mortuary.
