WV HAS THIRD HIGHEST CREDIT CARD DEBT IN USA

(12/11/2018)
It should not be a surprise that WV has the third highest credit card debt in the USA, being that the state is near the worst in income.

The Mountain State has the third highest credit card debt burden of all 50 states relative to income, according to a creditcards.com 2018 survey.

Citing the survey, a news release from bankrate.com said West Virginians had a total credit card balance of $7,563 with a median annual household income of $43,469. The average months to pay off the debt in West Virginia is 17 months with total interest of $1,167.

New Mexico and Louisiana were listed as the states with the highest total credit card balance at $8,323 and $8,110 respectively. The states with the lowest credit card burdens listed in the survey were Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Utah and Hawaii.

The survey looked at payoff times and interest charges using the average credit card debt per bank and retail cardholder and the median household income in each state, the news release said.
