ROANE SCHOOLS HAVE HIGH DROPOUT - Kids Count Survey

Publisher David Hedges of The Times Record/Roane County Reporter reports Roane County has one of the highest student dropout rates in the state, and it's a problem that has gotten worse over the past decade, according to a statewide report.

The 2001 West Virginia KIDS COUNT Data Book released recently offers a county-by-county study of conditions facing the state's population under the age of 18. In the study, Roane ranked 29th out of 55 counties in the state.
