(11/16/2018)
State Police responded to a breaking and entering call on Nicut Road Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

Roane County law enforcement say Joseph Robert Taylor, 25, is charged with transferring stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.

Court records said the man faces charges in Roane after he sold a stolen vehicle to a confidential informant and grabbed an officer's handgun during a struggle.

Taylor is charged with transferring stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint said a deputy began an investigation Tuesday after a report that Taylor was attempting to sell a stolen vehicle.

A confidential information said Taylor wanted to sell a stolen vehicle for $200 and the owner was out of town and would not be back until next week.

On Wednesday, a controlled buy of the vehicle was made from Taylor, the complaint said. Deputies and a trooper entered the residence and could hear a deputy yelling in the basement and could see the suspect fighting with the deputy.

Officers were able to get control of the suspect and put restraints on him.

The vehicle, which was reported stolen in Kanawha County, was found parked next to the residence, the complaint said.

Christopher Adam Mullens, 31, of Roane County was incarcerated in CRJ for failure to register as a sex offender and simple possession.

Joseph Clayton Southers, 42, of Grantsville was incarcerated in CRJ on a family court capias.
