SCHOOLDIGGER RATES CALHOUN SCHOOLS ON WV DATA - Data Shows Marked Improvement

Tyson Price, Chief Operating Officer of Curriculum and Instruction/Technology for Calhoun Schools, said out of 392 elementary schools in the state, Arnoldsburg Elementary ranked 139th and Pleasant Hill School was ranked 150th by SchoolDigger.

Calhoun Middle is 84 out of 170 middle schools in WV and Calhoun High School is ranked 92 out of 115 high schools in WV.

SchoolDigger is an independent website that ranks schools and school systems based purely on proficiency outcomes from standardized tests.

In school district's proficiency rates, Calhoun County Schools ranks 26th out of 55 counties state wide, up 4 spots from the previous year, said Price.

In the ratings of 55 county school systems, the scoring for regional counties: Ritchie (8); Wirt (22); Gilmer (23); Calhoun (26); Clay (29); Roane (31); Braxton (40).

Only six regional elementary schools scored higher than Arnoldsburg (140) and Pleasant Hill Elementary (150) - Smithville (9), Ritchie Elementary (20), Ellenboro (112), Lizemore (93), Big Otter (108) and Frametown 118, with eleven other regional elementary schools scoring below Calhoun.

Among the lowest scoring with 392 elementary schools in the state: Spencer Elementary - Roane (298); Creed Collins-Ritchie (327); H. E. White-Clay (354); Little Birch - Braxton (382); Flatwoods - Braxton (385).

Five regional high schools scored higher than CMHS - Braxton (29), Ritchie (43), Roane (45), Wirt (56) and Gilmer (63). Clay County High School scored below Calhoun at 98.
