Lenzy "Charlie" Martin, III, 57, of Catlettsburg, Ky., passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Ashland, Ky., after an extended illness.

He was born October 2, 1961 at Spencer, the son of Rosezetta Mallory Martin of Billings and the late Lenzy Martin, Jr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lenzy Martin, Sr. and Mildred Mowrey; maternal grandparents, Joseph Mallory and Edna Hill Mallory; beloved aunt, Jean Dickinson.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Martin of Catlettsburg; children, Mal Martin of Louisville, Ky. and Lenzy Martin, IV of Catlettsburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Jamie Osburn of Ashland, KY, and Darla Jo and Jim Milhoan of LeRoy; brother and sister-in-law, Ott and Anita Martin of Reedy; nephews and nieces, Andrea, Brian, Brandon, Zachariah, McKenzie, Olivia, Ottumn, Ethan, Emma and Mason; Allee, Kayleigh, Czar, Travis, Anissa and Lakota; many close friends and co-workers.

Charlie was the youngest paramedic, age 19, in W.Va. He worked for the Roane County Emergency Squad. Also, he had worked at Roane General Hospital, Spencer. He was a former insurance agent. In 1987, he began his career with Pinkerton, working as field supervisor, human resources and later as an undercover investigator. Charlie was a security officer and head of valet service at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

He was an NRA instructor in W.Va. and Ohio. Charlie was a founding member of Criminal Civil Investigations. He was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans, John White Spencer Camp. He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Alderson Broaddus College, Philippi.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Robert Keen officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery, Billings. The family will receive friends after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
