JACKSON PLANT ABRUPTLY CLOSES - Once Employed 100 Workers

(01/29/2003)
A Jackson County company that produces plastic bags has shut its doors, with at least 30 workers losing their jobs. ENE of West Virginia closed its Millwood plant last Friday, with little fanfare. Many workers are owed back wages.

The company opened in February 2001 and once had about 100 workers.

Officials are working to get the dislocated employees unemployment and job placement benefits.

Gov. Wise's Jobs SWAT team is holding a meeting at 9:30 a.m. today at the Jackson County Development Authority.
