Victor Ervin Marple, Jr., 82, of Spencer

Victor Ervin Marple, Jr., 82, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at home.

He was born August 8, 1936 in Spencer, a son of the late Victor Ervin Marple, Sr. and Geraldine Lucy Taylor Marple.

He formerly worked at the WV Department of Highways and for F.W.A. Drilling in the oil and gas industry. He enjoyed farming, cattle, going to fairs, talking to people, telling stories, and loved his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Mike Church) Marple of Spencer; a step-daughter, Sandra (Charlie) Morton of Clover, West Virginia; a son, Jeff Marple of Spencer; two sisters, Jessie J. (William) Whited of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Margaret E. Courtney of Palestine, West Virginia; a brother, Allen R. (Julie) Marple of Ripley, West Virginia; a grandson, Victor Alan May Marple; and a step-grandson, Levi Morton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Greathouse Marple; and a sister, Freda F. Anderson.

Service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. James Epling officiating. Burial will follow in the Greathouse Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
