Shirley Scott Lowe, 82, of Little Hocking OH

(10/23/2018)
Shirley Scott Lowe (82) of Little Hocking, OH was born on September 20, 1936 in Cremo, WV and passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 at Hamden Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hamden, OH.

Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this; that he would lay down his life for a friend."

There are heroes who lay down their lives at a moment in time and heroes who make that sacrifice over the course of a lifetime in consistent service to others. Shirley Scott Lowe was our hero because the moments of his life were given to serve others.

A Korean War Veteran, Shirley proudly served his country as a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and his family by ironing uniforms for extra cash, so he could send money home to help his mom and sisters. As a journeyman roofer, he worked hard for his family and often lived on peanut butter sandwiches, so he could use his expense money to give us some of the extras he wanted his kids to have. As a neighbor, he helped so many people that strangers would come from miles away to ask dad for help when they were in need. He laid down his life, for us and others, one day at a time. We couldn't have asked for a greater example of love from our dad.

Dad leaves this world trusting in Christ and longing to be reunited with: Joann Lowe (his wife of 55 years), Scott and Linda Lowe (his mom and dad), Ethel, Iva, Edna, and Margaret (his sisters), Luke, Lovell, Waitman, and Chuck (his brothers).

He will be missed by: Bill and Ivan Lowe (his brothers), 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a large extended family, neighbors, countless friends and most of all by us - his kids: Vicki Lowe, Kim (Herman) Hambrick, Steve (Rita) Lowe, Mike (Michelle) Lowe and Matt (Stacy) Lowe.

We would like to thank the staff at Hamden, Holly Helmic, and the Hospice Staff for the compassion that you showed our dad. It will be hard to convince us that you weren't angels sent from our loving God.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:30PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018 with a brief memorial service beginning at 6:30PM at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio.
