Two people are dead Monday in an apparent murder-suicide in Braxton County, according to the Braxton County sheriff.

Investigators believe an elderly man killed his wife and then himself. Deputies also found a written letter that indicates a "planned out situation."

911 dispatchers say it was reported around noon Monday in the Gassaway area, the bodies reportedly discovered by neighbors.

Sources told the Hur Herald that the victims have been identified as Fred and Patricia Blanks.

The couple had been married 50 years.

Blanks was the owner of Fred's Country Store at Normantown in Gilmer County.
